The Manaslu Circuit is a truly exceptional high-altitude Himalayan trek. In fact, many experienced trekkers say that they think the Manaslu Circuit is the best mountain trek not just in Nepal, but in all of the Himalayas! Why? Well, it offers a real challenge, as it's considered a moderate to strenuous trek. Also, not only does the trail take you through exceptionally diverse and dramatic landscapes, you also stay in small communities representing diverse cultures. Crossing the snow-clad mountain pass of Larkya La is a truly memorable challenge, and the views of Mt Manaslu and other towering peaks are sure to leave indelible memories.

We offer a slightly shortened version of the classic Manaslu Circuit, also sometimes called the Around Manaslu Trek. This version of the trek includes the very best, middle section of the trail, which takes you high into the mountains. After trekking up narrow gorges you ascend to yak pastures and are surrounded by glaciers and towering peaks, including Mt Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain in the world! You visit Manaslu Base Camp during the expedition, and also climb the high pass that is Larkya La to cross from the Buri Gandaki Valley into the Dudh Khosi Valley.
Here's all you need to know to plan a trip to Nepal and also prepare properly for the Manaslu Circuit trek.

Nepal has one international airport: Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu.
The two climbing seasons for the Manaslu region are October to early December and then April and May. In winter, you risk the Larkya Pass being closed due to heavy snowfall. In summer, monsoon rains can make the lower trails slippery and the overall experience less pleasant.
You can obtain a tourist visa quite easily at the airport in Kathmandu after landing. The Government offers 15- and 30-day tourist visas for $30 (€27) and $50 (€45) respectively.
There are no mandatory vaccinations for travelling to Nepal. Note that you do need travel insurance that covers you for trekking up to 6,000 m above sea level. We also advise speaking with your GP about your travel plans as altitude sickness is a real risk on a trek like the Manaslu Circuit, and you might wish to take altitude meds to help your body to cope better.

Sonam, who grew up in the Everest region of Nepal, is a mountain man through and through. He's a highly experienced and knowledgeable trek guide, and someone you can trust to lead you safely through the formidable Himalayas!
