Winter treks are colder but quieter, while monsoon season (June–August) brings heavier rain and limited visibility.
Most ABC treks take 7–12 days, depending on the route and pace. Follow Alice itineraries are thoughtfully designed to balance acclimatisation, comfort, and enjoyment, rather than rushing the experience.
The Annapurna Base Camp trek is considered moderate. Expect 5–7 hours of walking per day on well-maintained trails, including stone steps and gradual ascents. No technical climbing is required, but good fitness and mental resilience are important, particularly as altitude increases.
The ABC trek takes you through a range of contrasting Himalayan landscapes. You’ll walk past natural waterfalls, terraced agricultural fields, and traditional mountain villages before ascending into rhododendron forests and alpine terrain. As you gain altitude, the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic, with glacier-carved valleys and high-altitude landscapes, culminating at Annapurna Base Camp, a natural amphitheatre of ice, rock, and towering peaks.
The trek offers views of:
You’ll also pass through Machapuchare Base Camp (MBC) at 3,700 m (12,139 ft), a breathtaking viewpoint and one of the highlights of the journey before continuing on to Annapurna Base Camp.
